Music has always been a world of endless possibilities for me. Growing up in Jerusalem, I divided my time between classical trumpet and jazz piano – two very different musical worlds that, for many years, I kept separate. My upcoming recital “Jazz Meets Classic”, taking place on December 8, 2025, at 18:00 in Concert Hall 3 at ZHdK, marks a significant step in uniting these two worlds into one artistic voice.
From an early age, I was drawn both to the elegance and precision of classical trumpet and to the freedom and creativity of jazz improvisation. This curiosity led me to study jazz piano at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, alongside classical trumpet studies. Later, my journey took me to Paris, where I deepened my classical training, and finally to Zurich, where I am currently studying at ZHdK with Prof. Frits Damrow.
For many years, I felt that I needed to keep these two paths separate. Classical music required discipline, refinement, and respect for tradition, while jazz encouraged spontaneity and personal expression. Over time, I realized that the boundaries between them were less rigid than I once thought. The turning point came when I began improvising on the trumpet and discovered how jazz enriched my classical playing – and how classical technique gave new depth to my jazz voice.

“Jazz Meets Classic” is much more than a recital title – it is a reflection of my artistic vision. The program combines works from the classical repertoire with improvisation and original compositions, creating a space where structure and freedom coexist. The recital also connects to my future artistic research project, in which I explore the meeting point between Israeli Middle Eastern music and the trumpet language.
This recital represents an important milestone in shaping my musical voice – a voice that celebrates both tradition and innovation. I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery and creation, and to share this music with me.
